CollegeNET Introduces Addition of Online Video to Popular Scholarship Social Networking Site
Portland, OR, June 10, 2008

WHAT:
CollegeNET.com, the first and only website that blends social networking and a democratic voting system to award scholarships, announced today that it will now allow students to embed online videos onto its discussion forums. Through these discussion forums, CollegeNET gives students the opportunity to voice opinions on topics that matter most to them, while providing a venue to compete for scholarships. Students vote on which of their peers start and maintain the most compelling or funny discussions. Starting today, in addition to posting text and Internet URLs on the forums, students can include video in formats such YouTube and Yahoo! Video.

WHY:
Online video has become an essential part of the social media vernacular for college-age students, serving as one of the primary forms of entertainment and communication. The popularity of online video has surged, with U.S. Internet users viewing 11.5 billion online videos during March 2008, a 64 percent gain over March 2007. (Source: Comscore) Students can now use the language of video to stimulate further discussion on CollegeNET, campaign for votes and compete to win scholarships that contribute directly to their educations.

WHO:
CollegeNET’s members consist of students who are currently enrolled or plan to be enrolled in a college or university within one year, a group that typically ranges in age from 18-35.

WHERE:
CollegeNET is based in Portland, OR. Visit the social networking site at: www.collegenet.com
